The primary mission of the College of Education is to prepare you as a professional educator who, guided by a strong sense of community and the integration of your faith, is academically strong, pedagogically skilled, and morally committed to educating in a wide range of culturally diverse learning environments.

The College of Education at Charleston Southern:

Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program
American Mensa Education and Research Foundation and the local chapter, Piedmont Area Mensa, offer scholarships based on 550-word essays about educational, career, and life goals. $500 Goldman McCormick Scholarship
Goldman McCormick understands that education is one of the cornerstones to building a community with clear and honest communication. To that end, they are proud to announce a $500 scholarship available to a student enrolled in higher education who exemplifies the same values.

$4,000 Christian Community Credit Union Scholarship
Christian Community Credit Union offers Scholarships for Success to its members attending college, a university or seminary. Eligible students must be full-time undergraduates enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester or graduate students enrolled in six or more hours per semester. Application for membership and scholarship can be submitted at the same time. Applications must be submitted by the end of March.

$1,000 Chase Rubin Foundation Scholarship
Chase Rubin believes that all young adults can benefit from furthering their education after college. However, he also knows that the price of education is increasing and not decreasing. Therefore, he created the Chase Rubin Foundation Scholarship to help one student each year become one step closer to completing their chosen degree program by giving them a $1000 scholarship. To apply for this scholarship you simply have to write a 500-word essay.

CG Fuller Foundation Scholarship
Applicants for this scholarship must be a South Carolina resident, an incoming freshman, demonstrate financial need, academic achievement & leadership qualities. Applicants must score at least an 1100 on SAT reading and math, or 24 on ACT composite. The family’s adjusted gross income must be $60,000 or less. Deadline to submit the application is April 1st of each year.

South Carolina Teaching Fellows

Charleston Southern University Teaching Fellows are part of an elite group of future teachers who have been selected to receive the Teaching Fellows Award. While they receive this award—up to $6000 per year for four years—Charleston Southern Fellows take part in service-learning opportunities, professional development, and collaborative experiences that prepare them to be innovative teacher leaders.

CSU is proud to be 1 of only 11 institutions in the state identified as a Teaching Fellow Institution. Following graduation, a Fellow commits to teach in South Carolina one year for each year he or she received the fellowship. The program is administered through the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA). You can learn more here.

Call Me Mister

The Call Me Mister (CMM) program is a collaboration between Clemson University and other colleges and universities, including Charleston Southern University.  The purpose of the program is to increase the pool of available teachers from a diverse background, particularly among the lowest performing public schools.  Student participants are generally selected from among the underserved, socio-economically disadvantaged and educationally at-risk communities. Call Me Mister will only accept students who major in Elementary, Early Childhood, Music, Physical Education, Middle or Special Education.

The program is HIGHLY competitive and provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships towards tuition and fees and a stipend each semester.

  • Non-Praxis Core Completion: $5,000 towards tuition and fees.
  • Praxis Core Completion: $10,000 towards tuition and fees

Misters are expected to teach in a South Carolina public school for EACH year they receive funding after they graduate.
